Pythagoras tree

We are two architects who do or make something every year in addition to our regular work. This year, it became a work of art for the Biennial Cultural Fire 2024 – Natura Inspiratus in Botanic Garden Meise. Within the theme of nature, we drew inspiration from the site assigned to us. A grassland with single trees and mowed straight and circular paths. Nature and structure in a nutshell. Our artwork is a three-dimensional (3D) Pythagoras tree. An almost architectural plant with a geometric growth pattern of squares and triangles in 3D. An artwork becomes more interesting by combining shapes with different meanings. This encourages interaction with the audience. What are we looking at? A tree with branches and seeds or a group of animals jumping out of a box?

Arbre de Pythagore

Nous sommes deux architectes qui, chaque année, réalisons un projet en plus de notre travail habituel. Cette année, c’est une œuvre d’art pour la Biennale Cultuurvuur 2024 – Natura Inspiratus dans le Jardin botanique de Meise. Dans le cadre du thème de la nature, nous nous sommes inspirés du site qui nous a été attribué. Une prairie avec des arbres isolés et des chemins tondus, rectilignes et circulaires. La nature et la structure en un mot. Notre œuvre d’art est un arbre de Pythagore en trois dimensions (3D). Une plante presque architecturale avec un modèle de croissance géométrique composé de carrés et de triangles en 3D. Une œuvre d’art devient plus intéressante en combinant des formes ayant des significations différentes. Cela favorise l’interaction avec le public. Que regardons-nous ? Un arbre avec des branches et des graines ou un groupe d’animaux sautant d’une boîte?
